A talk and hands on demonstration by Master Potter David Walters at the Ceramics Gallery
The Ceramics Gallery at 24 Dirkie Uys Street in Franschhoek is the home, studio and gallery of Master Potter David Walters. For a fee of R100 per person visitors can gain access to David’s studio for a riveting first hand demonstration of the potters’ art on the wheel, while he talks about the fascinating origins of the second oldest profession! You will learn how pots are made, where clay comes from and how it works. Booking is essential for this demonstration, as the clay has to be prepared in advance. The time spent in the studio and gallery will be about one hour, and one lucky visitor a month will win the very pot that you have witnessed being made, worth at least R500. This will have to be delivered at a later stage, once the firings have been completed.
